Quins women had their first taste of Premiership rugby today, making the long journey to Judges Road to face City of Derry.

In a fixture marred by referee availability, both sides put a lot of effort in over the weekend to ensure the fixture was fulfilled and a big thankyou to Colin McCandless for stepping up at the very last minute!

The late kick off didn't deter either side, with abrasive exchanges in the early minutes, quins soaking up a lot of pressure from the experienced Derry women! This was to be a bruising encounter with both sides giving no quarter.

Quins seemed to dominate in the set piece with a particularly bullish scrum, but the City of Derry speedsters ringing the fence punched 3 unconverted tries before the half!

The sun shone and the wind died for the second half with both teams testing defensive lines with wave after wave of onslaught, but again it was the experience and tenacity of the home side that created the space to score some excellently worked tries to leave the final score 32-0!

Quins are taking a lot of positives from a score line that in truth only partly tells the story! The Derry women very much deserved winners, but Quins learning a heck of a lot about Premiership rugby!

Onwards and upwards for quins, who have Cavan at home on the 24th October at 1pm! All Support welcome!
